I had a problem with a servo drive in my Hurco km3p.  I have borrowed a spare board from a friend of mine until I can afford to get mine fixed ( Thanks for the help diagnosing the problem, Buddy).

We swapped out the spare board with the one in his Hurco so that we know this one works.

Now I have a new problem. When you turn the machine on and start to adjust the servo drive for X axis, after about 4 minutes it will do a hard jump move on its own and get an error.  Then I  put it back in operate mode and the table drifts back & forth in X axis and all the jog buttons do is change the direction. The table goes and whatever speed it decides to .

You can hit E-stop and turn off the main power and then turn  it right back on and all is well for another 4 minutes. Then it does it's own thing.

When it jogs correctly the numbers on the screen follow accurately and the feed speed  shows while jogging. When it goes crazy, the numbers don't move sometimes .

Could this be the encoder or tachometer messing up?

Thanks,

Jack

Could be the encoder but I suspect the Servo Control Brd in the rack in the bottom of the right cabinet. You can swap the X encoder with Y or Z to see if it is an encoder problem. I can fix these problems in one day.

Thx
